Running Experiences (tips)
This page is for all my stories and some (possibly) helpfull tips I would give based on my experiences.
A Runners Paper Cut : Blisters
All I can see for miles out is the blue ocean water that is gently landing its waves on the soft sandy beach. The sun is shinning and the wind is blowing on your face the refreshing sea breeze. It feels and looks just like a scene from a movie! So I decided to run on the beach just like a movie star : Barefoot. I start the run and occasionally get some water on my foot from the waves, which feel great. Untill... the beach that I thought felt soft was actually kinda hard, like concreat, and I fealt a hot spot at the ball of my foot, and possibly between the toes (cringing from the memory). When this happened to me I immediately knew what was happening, but I hoped to the universe that I was wrong. Unfortunatly, I'm never wrong; the hot pain was due to blisters forming. I finished my run, and let me tell you, I struggled to walk normally. IT. WAS. PAINFULL. Nevrtheless, I had fun at the beach and felt glad that I got to shange the scenery for a run. However, when I got home I realized that I have a long run and the blisters aren't going anywhere overnight.
So here's what I did :
Cleane both of my feet and hands
took a needel and sanitized it with hydrogen peroxide (to prevent infection from the needel) and poked a hole for the big painful blisters that was full of liquid
Got the liquid out by gently pushing toward the hole that I made and wiping it with a cloth
Put on a donut hole callus cushioning to reduce pressure since most of my blisters where foming at the ball of my foot, which meant that I was putting pressure on it everytime I stood, walked, or ran, and I had along run the next day. (If I didn't have a run I would of just put on a band-aid, which is the next step)
Put on a band-aid over the callas cushioning. (or just put on a band-aid as normal over the blister but with a little space between). like this 👇
checked on it daily for infection and any irregularities.
If you are also strugggling with blisters and might want to try some callus cushioning, click here
The best thing to do is to leave it alone and allow it to heal on its own, but this is typically what I do inorder to minimize the pain and reduce risk of further damage.
